Powerful Inflator Meets a Range of Needs
With inflation power up to 160 PSI, the ASI300 can take care of a range of inflation tasks. Pump up an air mattress for an impromptu guest room, top off your bike tires for a long, worry-free trail ride, or just tuck it in a corner of your trunk for added peace of mind.

Convenient, Easy-to-Use Integrated Gauge
The ASI300's integrated gauge keeps tabs on air pressure, so you don't have to remove the hose to take readings. And you won't ever have to worry about over inflation--dial in the pressure you want and the ASI300 automatically shuts off once it's reached. The red-faced gauge is illuminated, perfect for use when setting up camp after sundown or inflating a tire along a dark road.

4 out of 5 stars Handy Portable Air Station   August 27, 2010
SandyW (Belmar, NJ)
I just purchased this one for my son to take to college with him. It's just what we wanted. It's small enough and it works well. It can connect to the car through the lighter outlet, and it inflates tires easily. The light on the gauge is very helpful too. I admit that the gauge is hard to read, but using a regular tire gauge helps do the trick. It's great that it stops adding air when it gets to the set PSI too. As someone else wrote, you just inflate the tires a few of pounds higher than you need (it does not do damage to the tire) and then use the regular tire gauge to release any extra air to the desired PSI. As for the cords, they are the right size to store back in the container with a few twists. Anything longer would be impossible. We used an extension cord at home to use it AC but my son will most likely only use it with the DC switched on at college.
As for the noise, it is quieter than our other older air inflator here at home. I don't believe motorized air inflators are ever quiet. I guess the changes I would make if possible would be a larger gauge with clear, accurate readout and to have a metal clamp/clip at the end where the air meets the object to inflate rather than a plastic one, hoping it would last longer, though this one seems to work very well. We didn't try to inflate any basketballs or anything else, but the attachments for such are tucked away underneath the unit. The instructions are clear. You adjust the PSI and then turn on to either AC or DC and inflate. You turn off again and move on to the next tire/object doing the same. It's simple.

This air station works great. I used the first day for the tires on my M/C. It worked great. The only problem is the power cord is to short. To reach a plug I had to use an extension cord.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money   August 22, 2010

I've owned this air pump for 4 months now using it to check and re-inflate my car tires (3 cars) on a bi-weekly basis. I've had no problems with the pump and consider the money "well spent". I like the fact that I no longer have to find gas stations with "free air" (which seems to be a rarity these days). Plus, I'm sure to be saving money on the previously under-inflated tires on the cars driven by my wife and eldest daughter. The pump itself seems robust for my uses with an accurate automatic cutoff that saves me from checking the tire pressures after every tire. I have two small criticisms though. First, the connector from the pump to the tire valve stem is plastic so one does need to be careful setting it on and taking it off. I personally find that type of "planned obselescence" to be ridiculous so thumbs down to B&D for that. Second, the power switch, which needs to be reset after pumping each tire, is in an ungainly spot on the back of the unit. It may be designed that way in order to protect the switches (which I appreciate) but it's a little irritating to have to pick the unit up and fiddle with the switch every time in order to re-start it.

2 out of 5 stars Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station Inflator   August 19, 2010
none
It would be a good inflator, but for some strange reason the manufacturer limited the length of the electric cord to a foot and a half, not even long enough to leave it setting on the floor while I pump up bike tires. I have to get an extension cord every time I want to use this pump. I called Black and Decker to inquire about this design mistake but was not given an adequate explanation as to why the power cord is so short. I had a previous Black & Decker inflator that lasted twenty years and it worked and functioned very well.

Many pumps priced at up to the cost of this Black & Decker ASI300, and now on the market work only by plugging them into cigarette lighters, in fact I have yet to find one that plugs in to A/C.

I haven't been able to find any brand of pump that would function as well as my old Black and Decker or I would quickly return this ASI300 for a refund.

I've only used this to blow up plastic items for the pool but it made super quick work of it and I was very happy with it. Compact unit could be stowed anywhere - boat, car, pool house, shed, basement. Only thing is it's a bit noisy. But it does a great job.
