| Customer Reviews: Quality has a price June 8, 2010 Rats make great pets "Steve" (Gainesville, FL) I bought this from Amazon which had the best price and a reputation for service if ever needed. The Fein Quick-In FSC 2.00-IS Interior set (by Amazon) is called by Fein - Fein SuperCut Construction FSC 2.0 Q. The "Q" is for quick change of the various blades, etc. There are several older versions. They differ mainly on power (the Multi-Masters -200 watt vs. the "Q's" 400 watt motor) and how the cutter is changed. On the older version an Allen wrench is used to unscrew the center cap, which holds the cutter in a grooved holder. On the "Q" there is a lever on top of the unit. When it is flipped forward the center cap is easily removed, the cutter changed, the cap replaced and the lever pulled back to a lock position. The cutter can be locked into numerous positions for cutting. Cutter change is fast, much easier and less tedious. Be sure to get the "Q" one - it's the latest one with all of the improvements. One very important note. While the unit comes with an assortment of blades, the time will come when new ones are needed. You must get the ones labeled "SuperCut" somewhere in their description. Only these blades will fit the Fein Quick-In FSC 2.00-IS, which Fein calls the SuperCut Constuction. If you buy the ones not labelled "SuperCut" they are for earlier versions of this saw from the MultiMaster series. To use them you must purchase the adapter. The attachment holes are larger on the SuperCut.
Having just gotten this unit, I have only used it once so far. It is a very smooth operator. I used it to cut an aluminum-framed window to a precise measurement. The tool is smooth and vibration free. The metal cutting blades have a max speed rating that they are to be used at, which is "4" on the speed control dial. The tool is too new for me to respond to the blade life issue. I suspect that some users may have operated the blade beyond its designed speed, used a wood blade on metal or attempted to feed the blade too rapidly into the work. My blade still looks like new with no missing or damaged teeth. I put the plastic protective cover back over the blade to protect its teeth when I was finished.
As an example, this tool will not cut nearly as fast as my 12" sliding compound double bevel miter saw - but it is not designed for that kind of work. It is a precision tool for the professional remodeler, cabinetmaker and other types of interior work where precision and accuracy are required in smaller areas. It is a quality tool that should last many many years given reasonable treatment. A DVD is included demonstrating some of the many uses of this tool. It is worth watching as Fein does not give helpful tips and tricks in writing. The manual covers the basics - safety, blade changing procedure, electrical safety and warranty-, which is one year. Be sure to register it on line for the free 3-year warranty.
